Coron is an island in the group of Calamian, north of Palawan, and is also the name of the City in the Busuanga island, near Coron island.The municipality of Coron is one of the four municipalities of the Calamian group. It includes the southern part of the Busuanga island, and the island of Coron.
The island of Coron has steep limestone cliffs, white sand beaches and several mountain lakes. Among them, the most famous is the Kayangan lake, awared as the cleanest and greenest lake of the Philippines. On the Busuanga island there are several resorts and restaurants.
Local transport in Coron
It takes 40 minutes by car to reach the city of Coron from the Busuanga airport. If you rent a shared van, the cost would be around 4 dollars per person, but many hotels will offer a private transport.
In the city of Coron there are no taxis. You can walk, or take a trycicle. It’s possible to rent a motorcycle or a scooter.
Weather in Coron
As in the rest of Philippines, seasons are two: the dry season and the rainy season.
Dry season: from December to February the coolest months, from March to May the hottest months.
Rainy season: from June to November
What to do in Coron
In Coron you can do several activities, starting from the most obvious one: enjoy the white beaches and the beautiful sea.
Among the other activities, we suggest to climb the mount Tapyas, from where is possible to dominate the town, to visit tCulion island, which is about 1 hour by boat from Coron, to visit the Calauit Safari, the Maquinit hot springs, or to dive in Coron Bay to see wrecks from the Second World War.
