New international airport in Puerto Princesa opening in the first quarter of 2017

The city of Puerto Princesa, capital of the Palawan island and the main hub to reach beautiful destinations like El Nido, the underground river or San Vicente, will soon have a new international airport, which should be operative since the first quarter of 2017.

The local government plans to increase the tourist arrivals to around 1.3 million in 2017

The new international airport of Puerto Princesa will be able to hold 51 flights a day, for a total tourist capacity of two million per year.

Philippines AirAsia plans to launch scheduled international flights from Puerto Princesa to China and potentially other international destinations including Taiwan and Malaysia

There are several airports in Palawan but only Puerto Princesa currently accommodates jets. Puerto Princesa is the seventh largest airport in the Philippines based on current seat capacity.
